COUNSELLING

Counselling

Individual counselling provides a safe and caring space for children and youth to work through stressful situations. Every child and youth responds differently to life events/changes (school transitions, being bullied, peer or academic pressure, death of a loved one, etc.).

Individual counselling allows child/youth to process issues and to develop and use effective coping strategies that can be implemented in all aspects of their lives.

Parents are included throughout the counselling process.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a method of intervention to treating anxiety and other mental health concerns.  CBT  takes a  hands on approach to problem solving, changing patterns of thinking and behaviour. Children explore emotions, thoughts and beliefs that contribute to their anxiety.  It equips them with skills and strategies to cope with their fears and stressors by changing the way they think and behave.  When a child/youth becomes aware of how anxiety affects them, they can begin to tackle their worries and manage their emotions.

Parents are included throughout the counselling process.
